Students should recognize that some employers in the industry may require a clean driving record, criminal background checks, drug screenings, willingness to relocate, ability to climb ladders, work in attics and crawlspaces, move heavy equipment, handle harsh environments, and be available for 24-hour service calls.
In Mississippi, HVAC contractors must obtain a license from the Mississippi State Board of Contractors before undertaking any HVAC-related activities. However, HVAC technicians working for a licensed contractor do not need to have an individual license to perform HVAC tasks.
